Wayne Jonas ( wayne@drwaynejonas.com ) is the executive director of Samueli Integrative Health Programs, a physician at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Pain Clinic, and a professor of family medicine at Georgetown University and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is a retired lieutenant colonel in the Medical Corps of the US Army. He is the author of How Healing Works ( http://www.HowHealingWorks.org ). Sergeant Carlson is a pseudonym used to protect the identity of the patient.
