Prior studies have established the carcinogenic role of HPV16 and also demonstrated its unique biological behavior in cervical and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) but its role in oral leukoplakia (OL) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is not well explored.
