Association between Statin Use and Meniere's Disease: Results from a National Health Screening Cohort.

Résumé
The protective effects of statins against inner ear diseases have been suggested. This study investigated the relationship between previous statin use and the occurrence of Meniere's disease (MD). Participants ≥40 years old in the Korean National Health Insurance Service-Health Screening Cohort 2002-2015 were enrolled. A total of 7734 MD participants were matched with 38,670 comparison participants. The dates of statin prescriptions for the 2 years before the onset of MD were examined. A conditional logistic regression analysis was performed to estimate the odds ratios (ORs) of statin use for MD. Regarding the different types of statins, lipophilic statins, but not hydrophilic statins, were associated with lower odds of MD in the <65 year-old group (adjusted OR = 0.81, 95% CI = 0.68-0.97,
