Increased amyloid-beta (Aβ) and amyloid precursor protein (APP) in the brains of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients are common pathological hallmarks mediating the disease progression. Growing evidence also suggests that mitochondrial abnormalities are an early feature in the pathogenesis of AD.
