The synthesis and characterization of a series of octa-coordinated Sm(III) complexes with 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-naphthyl)-1,3-butanedione (TFNB) and 2,2'-bipyridine (Bpy) derivatives as ancillary ligand are described here. The complexes were analyzed by elemental, spectroscopic such as infrared spectroscopy,
