Subacute thyroiditis (SAT) is an inflammatory thyroid disease with a frequency is 5% among all thyroid diseases. miRNAs are endogenous, non-coding RNAs ranging in length from 19 to 25 nucleotides. They play an important role in the posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether the expression levels of two circulating miRNAs, MIR22 and MIR16-1, can be used as a parameter in the diagnosis and follow-up of SAT disease.
