Résumé

Neutropenia is one of the most common abnormalities on complete blood count encountered in pediatric clinical practice. It causes anxiety in the pediatric clinician as well as in the patient and their family. Neutropenia can be inherited or acquired. Acquired neutropenia is much more common than inherited neutropenia. Acquired neutropenia self-resolves after the offending cause is removed, and therefore, most acquired neutropenia can be managed by primary care physicians, unless they are associated with severe infections. In contrast, inherited neutropenia needs to be managed in collaboration with the hematologist.
