Rod and cone photoreceptors degenerate in inherited and age-related retinal degenerative diseases, ultimately leading to loss of vision. Thyroid hormone (TH) signaling regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and metabolism. Recent studies have shown a link between TH signaling and retinal degeneration.
