This population-based study aims to examine the association between nasopharyngeal carcinoma and human papillomavirus infections. This study included 2747 individuals aged 20 years and older who were diagnosed with nasopharynx cancer as cases and 13,735 propensity-score-matching controls. Multivariate logistic regression models were employed to quantitatively assess the association of nasopharynx cancer with human papillomavirus infections while considering age, sex, monthly income, geographic location, and urbanization level of the patient's residence as well as diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Our chi-squared test indicated a significant dissimilarity in previous human papillomavirus infection rates between nasopharynx cancer patients and controls (12.7% vs. 7.2%,
