Stimuli-responsive layer-by-layer (LbL) capsules are appealing drug carriers for oral drug delivery owing to their abilities to utilize environmental differences to trigger changes in particles properties. LbL capsules typically have micrometer diameter ranging between 1 and 5 µm. The opportunity to use LbL for the modification of particles in the nanorange may provide enhanced benefits and properties for drug delivery. In this work, we used multiple polyelectrolytes to prepare novel stimuli-responsive multi-layered nanocapsules with submicron diameters.
