Résumé
Because of the prevalence of chronic health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, there is an increased need in the United States for nurses with specialized knowledge and training in providing care to dialysis patients. The US Board of Labor Statistics projects growth of 26 percent in dialysis nursing over the next decade. To prepare nursing students for this growing need, a collaborative agreement was made between a college of nursing and public health and hospital executives in an academic and clinical practice partnership to introduce nursing students to dialysis nursing through a clinical experience.
