Along with insulin resistance and increased risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D), lean first-degree relatives of T2D subjects (FDR) feature impaired adipogenesis in subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and subcutaneous adipocyte hypertrophy well before diabetes onset.
