Early detection and treatment of invasive carcinoma arising in association with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN), which is biologically and (epi)genetically distinct from conventional pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, provide an opportunity to improve the prognosis of this lethal disease.
