Chondroitin sulfate (CS), a glycosaminoglycan of native cartilage, has shown its potential in promoting chondrogenesis of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), whereas the effect of matrix stiffness in a CS-containing 3D environment on chondrogenesis is still poorly understood.
