Cuticular wax mixtures cover the epidermis of land plants and shield plant tissues from abiotic and biotic stresses. Although cuticular wax-associated traits are employed to improve the production of bread wheat, regulatory mechanisms underlying wheat cuticular wax biosynthesis remain poorly understood.
